I watched this beautiful sunrise at New Smyrna Beach, a charming beach town near Orlando on Florida’s east coast.

Everglades National Park is Florida’s most famous nature park. It was created as a protection area for the Everglades, an important ecological system in the southwest of the state.

Southernmost point is one of Key West’s attractions. The monument was built in 1983 and sits at the southernmost point of the United States, just 90 miles (160 km) from Cuba.

Florida airboat tours are trademarks of the state. A classic!

These boats have a large propeller at the rear, which sits out of the water and allows them to glide – at high speed – through the flooded vegetation so characteristic of this part of the United States.

I love airboat riding and have had 4 amazing experiences, very different from each other. I recommend them all:

The Castillo de San Marco is one of the top attractions of Saint Augustine, the oldest city in the U.S. The fortress, built by the Spanish, is the oldest masonry fort in the country and according to its history, is invincible.

You can’t not talk about shopping, right?! Even with the dollar soaring, even on a more ‘different’ list than doing in Florida.

The first European explorer to arrive in Florida is said to have been Ponce de Leon, after getting lost at sea during a storm.

Exploring a more cosmopolitan side of Florida, it’s worth connecting to special events in the lineup of two excellent museums in Florida, from happy hour to musical shows. Nothing like a night at the museum, right?!

Following this, another unique experience on this list of things to do in Florida is swimming with free manatees in the wild at Crystal River (160km from Orlando), the largest winter natural refuge for these animals on Florida’s West Coast.
