Whether you want to spend the day aboard a chartered luxury boat or prefer to float the gentle sea in a small powerboat, Founders Park marina is the place to start.

Islamorada offers scuba lessons for beginners. Afterwards, visit the History of Diving Museum to learn all about this adventurous hobby. Organize a professional dive or snorkel trip to some of Florida’s most acclaimed spots and observe the fish in their natural habitat. Popular locations include the Eagle, a shipwreck just offshore, and the Conch Wall, a gently sloping shelf of rock. If you prefer to stay dry, visit the Theater of the Sea to see the dolphin show in the aquarium.

Grab your gear and rent fishing rods from one of the city’s sport fishing specialists. Islamorada has a reputation for being one of the best fishing destinations in North America. Huge fish are quite common in fishing activities, so you won’t even have to worry about overdoing the day’s catch.

Islamorada is about 90 minutes by car or boat from downtown Miami from nearby towns. Accommodation ranges from luxurious resorts to cozy bungalows near Anne Beach, a beautiful public stretch of coastline.
