Key Biscayne is a Florida town on a barrier island across the Rickenbacker Causeway from Miami. It lies between 2 large parks—Crandon Park and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park—each with long, sheltered beaches, mangroves and tropical forest inhabited by birdlife, butterflies and loggerhead turtles. The latter is home to the 19th-century Cape Florida Lighthouse.
Key Biscayne is an oasis of sandy beaches, nature preserves and restaurants with breathtaking views. Once a coconut plantation owned by the Matheson family, who donated 800 acres of land to create what is now Crandon Park, Key Biscayne The beauty of Key Biscayne has been preserved for all to enjoy. It is also a natural destination for boat trips and water sports.
Situated along the Rickenbacker Causeway, Rusty Pelican is an iconic restaurant. With its elegant waterfront setting and floor-to-ceiling windows above a marina, a meal here is accompanied by sweeping views of Biscayne Bay and the Downtown Miami skyline.
As you continue along the road towards Key Biscayne , you will pass through Virginia Key, the site of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park and the Virginia Key Outdoor Center . Virginia Key is also home to one of the destination’s classic attractions, Miami Seaquarium.
Flanked by Crandon Park at its north end and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park at its south end, the island of Key Biscayne is a nature lover’s oasis where you can choose your own adventure. Play a game of golf or tennis. Hike a nature trail, climb to the top of a historic lighthouse, relax on the beach, rent a kayak or go out on a fishing boat.
