Selfie with Mickey: hugs are back

Selfie with Mickey: hugs are back

One of the most anticipated moments for children – and also for many adults – meeting characters in Orlando's parks had lost much of its excitement. This is because, in the post-pandemic return, physical interaction, that is, being able to hug the character or take a close-up photo with Minnie and Mickey, for example, was not possible. It was necessary to maintain social distancing and wear masks. The restrictions resulted in a lot of frustration and tears among younger children who, without understanding why, could not touch their long-awaited “friends”, even though they were physically materialized there.

Interaction with characters is back free from contact restrictions

The restrictions resulted in a lot of frustration and tears among younger children who, without understanding why, could not touch their long-awaited “friends”, even though they were physically materialized there.

But thankfully, since the end of April, character interactions have returned without restrictions at Disney and Universal parks .

Visitors will once again be able to hug Mickey Mouse , get an autograph from Elsa or Cinderella and share a laugh with Goofy.

Over the past two years, Disney has taken a very gradual and intentional approach to health and safety protocols. Recent trends and guidelines have made it possible to bring back some of everyone’s most beloved magical experiences, including character encounters and gastronomic experiences. This applies to parks, hotels and restaurants where there is interaction with characters and also on Disney cruises.
