We just stayed there. It was our first time. Has all the charm we hoped for and more! Met by Mate when we first arrived, he didn't have to do that, but it was a nice gesture. Nice to meet fellow Pacific NW people. We stayed in Kiwi, it was super cute. The door step was uneven and so were the floors but that added to the high charm factor. No complaints. Awesome little seating areas too. Super clean, private and quiet. We've never been to Cedar Key and were looking for a spot to unplug from the chaos of Orlando. Found it at Firefly. Jackpot! We are going to return in winter when it's less humid. I almost hate writing this because it'll give away our secret spot. LOL. Thanks for helping us unplug! See you again!
We spent our first anniversary at the Firefly and loved it so much we just spent our second! We are in love with Penelope's Cottage. The moment you walk in the door, take in the luxury bedding, the artwork, the perfectly appointed kitchen, and finally the screened-in porch overlooking the water - you can't help but feel your jaw relax, your mind clear, and the feeling that the whole world just slowed down. We spent some time in the little town on Dock Street just being tourists but we spent the majority of our time winding down and breathing in the peaceful nature of Firefly. No detail is missed, from the reverse-osmosis bottled water to the fresh ground coffee. Ian and Mate' are gracious and friendly hosts and their dog Inda is a sweet welcoming soul. We vowed to go back more often than once a year!More
I have been visiting Cedar Key for several years and stayed at several different properties, but Firefly Cottages are absolutely my favorite! From the moment I arrived the vibe was warm and welcoming. I stayed in Papaya Cottage and it was so very clean and comfortable with so many special touches. Fresh coffee delivered each morning, a wonderful assortment of teas for those of us who can't drink coffee and water provided was the best I have ever tasted. The property is cozy, comfortable and the opportunity to relax and interact with nature is so wonderful. Beautiful, comfortable outdoor seating area with relaxing waterfall complements the sounds of nature. And then just a few steps to the back bay where I enjoyed the water, birds, fish and quiet peacefulness. The property is within walking or biking distance to restaurants and sites of Cedar Key. Maybe next time I visit, I will actually leave the property and see the sites again. Then again, maybe I will just enjoy the atmosphere of the lovely property again.
We recently stayed at Firefly for a long weekend of downtime and relaxation. From the time we booked our stay, until we left, every detail was attended to. Email communications are thorough and let us know what to expect before we arrived. We were greeted by the hosts, Ian and Darrin, who delight in making the guests stay magical. The cottage was spotless, towels and linens were high quality, even toiletries were provided.The cottage had beautiful decorations and tasteful colors. The creativity does not disappoint. We found freshly ground coffee at our door each morning; who does that ! What a glorious way to start the day. Sitting on the porch surrounded by tropical plants was like a slice of paradise. We've already shared with our friends that they have to experience a stay at Firefly. You will return home refreshed and rejuvenated just as we did. We thank our hosts for everything.
My husband and I absolutely loved our stay. Our cottage (Kiwi) was super cute. It was perfect for our quick little Anniversary weekend getaway. The room was very clean and comfortable.
Firefly Resort is just the cutest place. It is very quiet and peaceful. It was so nice getting to meet Mate' once we arrived. He came to the Cottage and explained everything. Glad we got to see him on the way out too!
We are already trying to plan on when we are going back. We will see you again soon hopefully!
