It was an amazing drive. Its a bit tricky to get to - my older GPS had a bit of trouble finding it and had to backtrack. First half was better for viewing - the right side of the car is where the action is. Tons of gators and various birds. I am excited to see it in the various seasons. Drivers were respectful and plenty of pass points along the route. The audio tour was about how they are cleaning up the pesticides and area, so informative. Your car does get dusty as this is a gravel-like road. Best thing is that it is free.

In a state full of places that take your money at every turn, this place is fabulous. Stay in your car to beat the heat and be safe from the huge number of gators and wildlife we saw. There are spots to pull over and let people faster than you by, so be aware of your surroundings and don’t be a jerk. Take your camera, some waters, a snack and some TP if you LOVE nature as we spent way longer than planned enjoy this park. It’s fabulous !!

I drove the trail early in the morning. There were many many alligators. Lots of water birds, especially anhingas and herons. Also many osprey. I watched three hunting in one are as they dived for breakfast. The views particularly during the first half of the drive were spectacular. This is a great outing whether you're looking for a relaxing drive to appreciate nature, or for wildlife and landscape photography.

A spectacle of a place! Various animals and constant presence of alligators! Allow about 2 hours to travel slowly, by car. It's very beautiful.

This is a hidden gem just a short drive from the Orlando area. First of all, it's FREE! Yes, I said free with no hidden costs. A ranger meets you at the entrance, provides you with a map, and explains the self-guided audio tour (via QR code on your phone). This was very helpful in knowing where you are on the property and what the habitat is. They have more than 300 species of birds, alligators, lynxes, turtles, rabbits, fish, frogs, etc. I also wanted to see alligators from a safe distance, and we managed to see 10 along the way! The views along the drive were breathtaking! They have lots of pullover spots to take photos. They also had plenty of bathrooms and extremely clean port-a-potties throughout the unit. Very suitable for bringing children.
