This half mile loop on an unpaved path is excellent for runners because the trees provide shade and there are restrooms and a snack shop right there. I like running on this path also because there are beautiful whistling ducks and snowy ibises to look at. It’s a great place to bring kids and we take our grandies to the playground. It safe and a lovely well maintained setting.

First, this park has a TON to offer, my review is entirely based on the circus park\playground and a 21 month old. Cool playground but not fantastic for little kids. Most of the play structure are really large, lots of big kids and it was very busy. With a 21 month old I get nervous about lots of big kids potentially "running him over" so to speak. The little kind area was cute and appropriate but extremely small and limited. There were not even any toddler swings. Also the "animals" are really beat up looking, they need some serious cosmetic maintenance because they just look beat up and filthy.

Payne Park was given to the city by Calvin Payne and was intended to remain a park. From 1924 to 1990, it was a baseball park. Now it is a walkable tranquil park with a huge pond where birders can find find spoonbills and many many ducks. Covering 39 acres, there are tennis courts, a skateboard park, frisbee golf area, Circus themed playground, cafe, a dog park area, half-mile winding red-pebble path trail, and amphitheater. Payne Park is bordered by Adams Lane (one block south of Ringling Blvd), Washington Blvd, and S School Ave.
